Getting started

Open your project in CLICK Programming Software, save it, then start ClickNick. It finds the open project and shows the connection near the top of the window.

1. Try nickname autocomplete

Open an instruction dialog in CLICK and start typing a nickname. Pick a result and ClickNick inserts the address. Matching works on prefixes, contained text, or abbreviations; hover a result to see its comment.

2. Check the saved ladder

Click Check Program. Findings are grouped by severity, with the rung they point at and a hint where there is one. It reads the last save, so save in CLICK after editing.

3. Run it offline

Open Console to run the saved program without a PLC. Force inputs, step scans, inspect tags, ask why a tag is on or off. Nothing here touches the controller.

4. Pick a workspace folder

A workspace is a folder that links up with your open project. ClickNick fills it with your ladder (as Python) after every save. Anything you add, tests, notes, fixtures, stays. Until you pick a folder, ClickNick uses a temporary one, which is enough for checks and the Console. Pick a real folder from the Workspace controls when you want the work to stay with the machine. ClickNick remembers which folder goes with which project.
